Double sided auctions for one single goal
Hintco trades green commodities via the H2Global double auction mechanism. The tenders are divided into auctions on the purchase side (HPA auctions) and on the sales side (HSA auctions).
The first HPA-side H2Global auctions have already been completed, others are currently being implemented.
The HSA auctions are scheduled to take place 12 months before the start of the first deliveries of the respective product.

HPA (supply-side) auctions
Through the H2Global purchase auctions, Hintco identifies the most competitive suppliers of renewable hydrogen or derivatives and offers them secure purchase agreements. By concluding long-term offtake contracts (Hydrogen Purchase Agreements, so-called HPAs), the producers obtain the necessary price, market, counterparty, and legal security. This is a prerequisite to taking final investment decisions and allowing projects to switch from planning to implementing.

HSA (demand-side) auctions
On the demand side, Hintco sells the purchased product in a subsequent H2Global sales auction, entering into short-term sales agreements (Hydrogen Sales Agreements, HSAs) while identifying offtakers with the highest willingness to pay.
These short-term sales agreements create regular price signals through the continuous sales auctions on the demand side. Through this transparent price information, Hintco directly contributes to the creation of a functioning renewable hydrogen market. In addition, the short-term sales auctions provide continuous trade flows and liquidity, another core characteristic of functioning markets.
